Fashion Pakistan Week 2014

The annual fashion weeks across the countries have commenced whether that be London, Milan or Paris. One should not forget the South Asian culture also showcase the best of their abilities with the designer fashion week for Spring Summer 2014. Commencing with Fashion Pakistan Week 2014 in Karachi, where this three day event expresses a variety of designers and their creative designs from Meena Sultan, Nadia Hussian to Wardha Saleem and many more. In association with Toni & Guy, TDAP, Bank AlFalah, Nestle Everyday and Nishat Linen although thoroughly orgainsed together by HUM Sitaray and Fashion Pakistan Council. Giving designers from a wide spectrum the platform to show, tell their story and bestow fabulous designs for the wider audience.

A few of my absolute favourites were  Hassan Sheheryar Yasin also known as HSY, Nida Azwer, Nauman Arfeen and Ali Xeeshan Theater
HSY, celebrates his 20th year anniversary in the fashion industry while showing at FPW with his collection 'Venom'. Yet again it held the distinctive HSY trademarks of traditionally used Pakistani and Middle East craftsmanship to be then turned into a more of a western silhouette. This infusion has a great sense of elegance, sophistication and uber class to the line. Chevron lines ranging from different sizes and a black, yellows, gold and bursts of red were the colour palette.
Ali Xeeshan Theater Studio is a master of creativity in my opinion, the way he uses fabrics, colour, embellishment utterly mindblowing. Inspired by the murals and artists of the oriental courts, fabulous burst of summer with his citrus mixture of a colour palette. All combined into a style that seemed to be very relaxed for a Ali Xeeshan show however opted for more of a relaxed Buddhist vibe with fabrication, draping and bird/flower motifs. It spoke effortless grace, uber spiritual and vibrant lifestyle once I saw this collection. Top Marks go to Xeeshan in my books.

Nauman Arfeen 'Haute After Dark' inspired by persian artwork for his Spring/Summer 2014 collection although I felt it gave a twist by using a beautifully Autumn/Winter colour palette of royal blue, dark brown and maroons throughout.Interpretation through traditional kurta, sherwani, western suits. Loved the Styling!
With the collection 'Arabesque' it could be considered that white maybe the new go to colour from this Spring/Summer  14, in terms to Nida Azwer. Her gorgeous choice of fabrication consisted of organza, chiffon, net and silks finally topped off in a gold and silver hue. Azwer created a selection of silhouettes that could be worn in a variety of occasions. This was a subtle beauty I completely loved and her used of traditional craftsmanship.

Best dressed at the BAFTAS 2014

That time of year has come where London sets out the red carpet, gets prepared for the glitz and glam for this years BAFTA Awards held at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden on Sunday 16th February 2014. With Hollywoods and Britain's finest actors and actresses, decked out in some of the most glamourous outfits not every celebrity gets it right! Now here is a short break down on some of my favourite outfits and looks from this years BAFTA Awards. Unfortunately none of these celebrities walked home with a BAFTA this time but with no shadow of a doubt looked stunning in their outfits.

1. The gorgeous newcomer Lupita Nyong'o known for her great work in the movie '12 Years of Slave',  wears a floor length emerald green satin Dior gown, teamed with a gold belt and jewellery by Ana Khouri finally topped off with red nails and lipstick. Nyong'o has that striking look, natural short afro hair which compliments her face perfectly and that big smile to die for. Any outfit has to be worn with confidence and I definitely this was achieved, she looked fabulous in all her glory.

2. Tine Tempah is one of my ultimate style crushes he is on point every single time with his outfits whether that be on chat shows, award ceremonies or even just being papped, Great! A Royal blue velvet blazer with black lapels and slim fitting trousers, the whole ensemble is very stylish and dapper. No doubtably one of the best dressed men at the BAFTAS.

3. Amy Adams opts for a stunning slender fitted black LBG by non other than Victoria Beckham and jewellery by Solange Azagury Partridge. I have to admit Miss Beckham has great talent in creating beautiful silhouettes. This gown definitely indicates those skills enhancing Adams best assets. I love the different use of textures and shirt collar very Victoria Beckham.
4. Naomie Harris looking jaw dropping amazing in a hot pink Gucci high slit dress.  Accompanied by the master of shoes Christian Louboutins heels and a Rauwalf clutch bag, topped with Cartier diamonds. As daring as this dress is, it compliments Harris in all the right ways showcasing her beautifully long legs and the black band cut in the correct position of the dress also gives her a great shape.

LFW DAY1

Even though the weather was not on our side, the passion everyone has for fashion forever draws them out onto the streets of Somerset House. Bright, Bold and Beautiful colouring was the strong sense of sensibility within the outerwear. Luxurious wools and tweeds helped to protect the body from the miserable British rainy weather. Loved the simplicity yet striking punch of colour this brings...

ZUHAIR MURAD- PARIS COUTURE WEEK 2014

Paris Couture Week 2014 saw Zuhair Murad presenting a beautiful 47 piece collection, opening with a pure white cape and floral printed jumpsuit ensemble. To then go onto showcasing some of the most elegant gowns, dresses and closing the show with a fully embellished appliqued wedding dress. Like previous couture collection from Murad, the pieces oozed demure, chic lady with its soft hue colour palette of pinks, lilac, blues and to compliment bursts of purity with the clean shade of white. Accessories played a key part within each look through the eyes of a thin gold banded belt with leaves dispersing in a variety of positions. I adored the gold pointed heels with what seemed to have a thin strip of clear pvc of some sort around the mouth of the shoe. Zuhair Murad for me is pure opulence, elegance, exquisite embellishment and  stunning silhouettes. I definitely fell in love with nearly most of the collection! Well Done Murad.
